Rotation Curriculum
Critical Care Unit & Inpatient Consults
Fellows will supervise internal medicine and/or family medicine residents while managing patients across the critical care unit and general floors.

Echocardiography
Days are split between obtaining hands-on experience with transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) as well as interpreting these studies. Fellows will also gain experience with stress echocardiograms.
Nuclear Medicine
Weeks are split between inpatient and outpatient. While inpatient, fellows will supervise and read treadmill only stress tests and treadmill or pharmacologic myocardial perfusion imaging. In outpatient, fellows are exposed to exercise and pharmacologic PET/CT in addition to SPECT.

Cardiac Catheterization
Fellows train in state-of-the-art labs with experienced interventional cardiologists to perform diagnostic angiography, right heart catheterizations, temporary transvenous pacemaker implantation, pericardiocentesis and more. Fellows can also gain exposure to structural cases.
Continuity Clinic at First Coast Cardiovascular Institute
You will spend 1 day a week with an assigned attending managing patients. Fellows may refer and follow patients they managed at the hospital for continuity.

Electrophysiology
Fellows manage patients across hospital and clinic settings and experience invasive electrophysiology procedures, defibrillator and permanent pacemaker placements, ambulatory ECG analysis, as well as implantable device interrogation and programming.
Mayo Clinic Heart Failure
At the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville campus, you are integrated into the Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology teams managing patients with end-stage heart failure as well as heart transplant patients.

Mayo Clinic Stress Echo
The stress echo rotation takes place at the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville campus. Here you will have a chance to observe and read dobutamine stress, exercise stress, and cardiopulmonary testing.
Mayo Clinic Advanced Imaging
The advanced imaging rotation takes place at the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville campus. During this rotation, you will be part of acquiring cardiac CT angiogram, cardiac CT calcium score, and cardiac MRI. The reads are assessed and officially read in a multidisciplinary fashion with the imaging cardiologist and radiologist.

Memorial Hospital Jacksonville Elective
Inpatient rounding is focused on advanced heart failure patients, including those requiring advanced mechanical circulatory support like ECMO and Impella. Also provides opportunity for invasive procedures like cardiac catheterization, and transesophageal echocardiography.
Vascular Medicine
The vascular medicine rotation takes place at First Coast Cardiovascular Institute’s Southside office, located on AC Skinner Parkway. For this elective, you will be given the opportunity to get hands-on experience acquiring vascular images in the upper and lower extremities as well as have the opportunity to read vascular studies and engage in vascular procedures.

Nuclear Research
Hybrid electives with half days on nuclear medicine and the other half focused on research. The goal is to allow fellows to complete their required research projects. Afternoons are used to acquire data, draft manuscripts, and meet with the preceptor.
